Plans of remaking Bollywood blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’ in Tamil and Telugu have been in the pipeline ever since the Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi starrer hit the screen. However, the director and star cast have been recently finalized. Ace filmmaker Shankar, whose Endhiran is the most awaited flick of the year, has agreed to shoot the Tamil and Telugu versions of ‘3 Idiots’. However, though the actors to play Aamir and Sharman’s role are finalized for both the versions, the production house Gemini Films wanted Madhavan to play his bit.
Once on board, Shankar confirmed Vijay (Aamir), Simbu (Sharman) for the Tamil version and Mahesh Babu (Aamir), Simbu (Sharman) for Telugu. There was news that Maddy is not interested to do the role again. Industry insiders were hoping that Maddy might change his mind after Shankar joined the dream team. But the actor has confirmed that he will not be able to do the South Indian ‘3 Idiots’.
Madhavan declared, “For the last and final time, I am unfortunately unable to do ‘3 Idiots’ in Tamil and Telugu.” The actor is currently shooting for Tamil film ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ and Bollywood movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ which is why he doesn’t have dates for anything new.
With Madhavan’s ‘no’ to the film, the director and Shankar are on a hunt for an actor who can slip into his role.
